The Position: The Department of Education Reform in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Coaching for the Arkansas Teacher Corps.
Duties and Responsibilities: The individual selected to fill this position will be responsible for monitoring the teacher training and individual progress of Fellows enrolled in the Arkansas Teacher Corps (ATC) program. Primary responsibilities will include managing and developing all ATC Teacher Development Managers through weekly check-ins, field day observations, and monthly coaching development sessions; and hiring, training, and managing all ATC Summer Mentors during the seven-week Summer Institute for incoming Fellows. Additional responsibilities will include traveling to and observing a cohort of 10-15 Fellows’ classroom teaching; providing detailed oral and written feedback on lesson design, delivery, and classroom management; communicating with principals, mentor teachers, and other stakeholders regarding Fellows’ progress; and assisting Fellows with long-term goal-setting and monitoring progress towards goals. The ATC Director of Coaching will also be called on to assist in recruitment and selection of Fellows as well as to design and facilitate professional development throughout the school year and during the seven-week Summer Institute for incoming Fellows. The selected individual must be able and willing to travel across the state by automobile and be available to work some nights and weekends. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
