The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) provides leadership and executive direction to the Divisions of Teaching and Learning, Specialized Instruction and Student Support (Special Education), and English Language Learners and Student Support. CAO is responsible for policy and program development related to curriculum, instruction, academic policy, assessment, research, evaluation, knowledge management, and professional learning development. The CAO will ensure all academic programmatic initiatives are grounded in the Mayor and Chancellor’s vision of equity and excellence for all NYC DOE students. The CAO oversees development and implementation of policies, goals, objectives, practices and procedures related to the Department’s efforts to provide high-quality instructional programs designed to meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities and English language learners. Leads related professional development and program implementation initiatives. The salary for this position will be $198K+ and includes an excellent comprehensive benefits package. This is a position in New York City and requires a September 2018 start date. Must currently possess (or will possess by date of hire) New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL).
