We seek a candidate who thinks deeply about the challenges of implementing school improvement efforts at both school and district levels, and who has experience building professional cultures that support practitioner and student learning in a diverse range of K-12 settings. We welcome candidates committed to social justice and interested in mentoring students and advising student leadership initiatives. In addition, we are interested in candidates who can contribute to PennGSE’s initiatives on educational innovation, local impact, and global influence. The candidate should be practiced and skilled at negotiating the complex policy and market environments of public school systems. We expect the successful candidate to provide intellectual leadership through teaching, mentoring, and guiding research in regular and executive format programs.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership, Management, Organizational Behavior, or a closely related field and have substantial, decades-long employment experience as an educational leader. Desirable areas of emphasis include instructional leadership, organizational development, professional development, data-informed decision making, K-12 curriculum, and school-community dynamics. Experience with private sector schooling, educational technology, and/or international contexts is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess a record of publications and presentations on educational leadership, have demonstrated success in obtaining and managing grants, and be active in national professional networks.
Professor of Practice appointments are made for five years, are subject to reappointment review at five-year intervals, and may be renewed as long as academic needs persist.
We will begin reviewing applications on October 22, 2018 and we will continue to consider new applications until the position is filled.
