Candidates should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and have a strong record of research and teaching commensurate with appointment as full professor. A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Educational Leadership/Administration, Educational Policy, Higher Education, or a related field such as Educational Psychology or Special Education, is required. Preferably, the candidate will have at least three years of administrative experience in higher education as well as successful experience with accreditation, program development, and distance education/online learning. For those with K-12 experience, it is also preferable that they have experience with program approvals at state and national levels.
The chair will provide vision and leadership for the department to achieve world-class research excellence while continuing its tradition of high quality leadership programs. The chair will enable the department to increase significantly its research funding and endowments in order to address national and international challenges, including fostering collaborations within UTA and with industry, government groups, and with other post-secondary institutions. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through his or her leadership, scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
