Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is the 10th largest school system in the nation. Located in Northern Virginia, outside of Washington D.C., FCPS is searching for aspiring and experienced administrative leaders to join our school-based leadership teams to work with students, parents, school-based personnel, and central office professional staff.
The school system implements a principal-selection process that includes placing qualified candidates in a pool from which they may be selected for a specific school.
To be considered for the FCPS Principal Pool, applicants must apply during one of two open windows (window 1: April 4, 2019- September 6, 2019 or window 2: November 6, 2019 – February 11, 2020) and upload all required documents (resume and two essay responses). Further details, instructions for resume development, and a virtual presentation on the process are provided at the Principal Selection Process page.
Principals direct and are accountable for the planning, assessment, instructional leadership, communication, community relations, and safety and administrative management required to manage the instructional and special programs, organization, and facilities of an assigned Fairfax County public school.
Information sessions will be held at Gatehouse Administration Center, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church, Virginia. Session dates: Wednesday, August 7th at 8:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday, August 13th at 3:30 p.m.
