About Garrison Union Free School District
The Garrison Union Free School District, a nationally recognized high performing school district, is an integral part of a community that values its historical significance and local culture. This unique one-building school district originally established in 1795 serves students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. High School age students in the community are also served as they have the opportunity to choose to attend Haldane High School or James I. O'Neill High School. Through the generosity of supportive community members, the school building has been updated and boundaries of the school yard have expanded to include an athletic field and a 181 acre School Forest that serves as an outdoor classroom. This forest includes the site of a Revolutionary War Redoubt that was part of the defenses of West Point. Garrison prides itself on its nurturing environment, small class sizes, full day Kindergarten program and a variety of enrichment opportunities including Foreign Language instruction beginning in Grade 3 and an accelerated math program for Middle School students. Dedicated faculty, parents, students and community members work as partners to achieve enriching educational ...experiences and to challenge all students to become self-motivated, lifelong learners and contributing members of society. The support of Garrison School PTA and Garrison Children’s Education Fund enriches the instructional program as they support opportunities for learning that go beyond the classroom walls.
