Teaching Trust seeks a full-time Manager of Data and Evaluation to collect and analyze data and work collaboratively with program teams to help us better understand our program effectiveness, and share our findings and organization’s story with key external stakeholders.
What You’ll Take On
The Manager of Data and Evaluation is part of the Evaluation Team, a three-person team consisting of the Director of Evaluation and two Managers of Data and Evaluation, that collaboratively implement ongoing formative and summative evaluation processes at Teaching Trust. The Evaluation Team exists to understand Teaching Trust’s impact, provide a strong foundation for programming decisions, and aid in communicating our organization’s story externally. To achieve these goals, the Manager of Data and Evaluation is also a key resource in creating and sustaining a data-driven culture within the organization.
In this role, you will support the five main functions of evaluation at Teaching Trust, including:
• Planning robust and rigorous evaluations of our programming (formative and summative)
• Ensuring high-quality collection of internal and external data by designing collection tools, collecting data, and working with other staff to collect data
• Conducting in-depth data analysis and providing findings and insights
• Producing reports with narratives and visualizations of key findings that will be used with internal and external stakeholders
• Facilitating the use of key evaluation findings in internal program and operations decisions
Additionally, in your first 16 months, you will:
• Establish a collaborative relationship with internal program teams to become a trusted part of short-term data cycles so that we can all learn more about the effectiveness of our programs. This will include:
-- Preparing for, participating in, and debriefing ongoing data meetings with program teams
-- Ensuring high quality data collection for a full year’s evaluation cycle by facilitating staff investment in data collection and supporting them to collect data consistently
-- Providing ad hoc assistance and coaching/teaching of program staff
-- Providing insights on evaluation findings in order for program staff to make tactical decisions throughout the year
• Become a valuable part of the Evaluation Team by collaboratively working on a full year’s evaluation cycle. This will include:
-- Building the research base that bolsters our evaluation plan, including our logic models and theories of action, as well as reports
-- Designing data collection tools (e.g., surveys, rubrics, interview guides) and collecting data using these toolsIntegrating multiple data sources in order to produce comprehensive data analyses and reports that illustrate Teaching Trust’s impact
-- Collaborating with the External Affairs team to illustratively and accurately use evaluation findings to tell the story of Teaching Trust’s impact to external audiences

Ideal candidates will have:
• Experience conducting education research and/or educational evaluations, including reviewing literature, collecting and analyzing quantitative data, and presenting findings; specifically
-- Experience manipulating large datasets (working with raw data preferred)
-- Experience analyzing survey data (via Qualtrics, R, and/or Data Studio)
-- Experience developing and implementing robust processes for data quality assurance/quality control
-- Experience using a coding or statistical programming language (R preferred)
-- Experience creating compelling data visualizations via data visualization tools (e.g., ggplot2, Google Data Studio, Excel)
-- Experience using data collection tools (e.g., surveys, rubrics, interview guides) and experience with or interest in designing these tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Whetstone)
-- Experience drawing conclusions from research or evaluation findings and reporting out on these findings verbally or in written form
-- Ability to explain statistical concepts (e.g., correlation, variance, standard errors, linear regression) to non-technical audiences
• A strong entrepreneurial mindset when it comes to designing a personal learning path, while actively working to close gaps in your knowledge and skill set
