Wayside Publishing is a progressive developer of world language programs, resources, and materials for middle and high schools across the United States. We partner with educators to craft transformative texts and digital tools that engage students and foster successful communication and understanding across cultures.
What You'll Do
As a Product Design and Production Specialist, you work remotely and be responsible for building print and digital resources and populating our Learning Management System with assets already vetted by our editors and curriculum coordinators for the World Language Educational curriculum. This position will foster a collaborative work environment, help team members stay organized, and make sure all workload timelines and deliverables are met by doing any number of tasks such as:
Design
- Contributes to the development of template creations for print and/or digital products
- Ensures all print and digital materials follow brand guidelines
- Develops and creates graphic branded material for Marketing, Print, and Digital products
- Contributes to layout and aesthetics for print and digital material
- Conceptualizes and offers creative solutions for innovating and improving design visuals and processes
Print and Digital Production
- Participates in ongoing title maintenance from first print to any subsequent printings and/or digital versions
- Collaborates with the Product Development team to build digital activities, organize, upload, and maintain digital program content, and perform quality assurance for accuracy and functionality
- Management and coordination of print and digital assets (e.g. images, audio, video, etc.)
- Prepares and sends files for printing and/or prepares digital assets for the Learning Site
Communication
- Provides ongoing mentorship and training of other team members and interns
- Stays abreast of the latest design best practices and trends and provides feedback on internal design processes
- Works closely with the Product Development team and other departments to ensure project expectations are met and exceeded
- Ensures content integrity and collaborates with developmental editors and project managers to address customer feedback
- Other duties as assigned
About You

- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Education, English, Fine Arts) or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in the Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), HTML, CSS. Proficiency in XML and other coding languages is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in educational multimedia content development and production and/or graphic design
- Executes tasks promptly to ensure deadlines are not missed
- Ability to self-manage deadlines and be communicative regarding workload and expectations
- Ability to identify and capture best practices and quickly disseminate to all team-members
- Positive attitude. Persuasive and confident communicator (both oral and written)
- Ability to identify, prioritize, and focus on critical tasks
- Accurate and detail-oriented with an editorial eye.
- Database management; e-learning systems management is a plus.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
- Experience with audio, video, and image editing.
- World language experience preferred.
