EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY
AN INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS EAST GREENWICH SCHOOL DISTRCT
EAST GREENWICH, RHODE ISLAND
The East Greenwich School Committee seeks dynamic and effective leaders as candidates for its next Superintendent of Schools, who will work in partnership with school leaders, faculty, staff, students, parents, community members, and the School Committee to lead the District into the future.
About the East Greenwich Community
Incorporated October 13, 1677, East Greenwich is the 8th oldest town in the state of Rhode Island. The Town has many thriving businesses and restaurants, as well as abundant historical landmarks to visit within a short walking distance of Main Street. East Greenwich is approximately ten miles south of Providence, the state capitol, and is situated in close proximity to the Massachusetts border.
East Greenwich is centrally located on the west side of the beautiful Narragansett Bay. A relatively small suburban community with just over 14,000 residents, the town is frequently recognized for its livability, walkable downtown with a variety of excellent restaurants, shops and other businesses, and sense of community. The quality of East Greenwich Public Schools is a frequent reason community members move to East Greenwich, and as such, plays a significant role in the town and community. Underlining this commitment to education, in 2023 the community approved a $150 million bond to renovate and rebuild East Greenwich school buildings. This generational investment will ensure students and educators have the best possible facilities for decades to come.
About the East Greenwich Public Schools
The East Greenwich School District is a highly respected, top-rated school district in Rhode Island that educates approximately 2,500 PreK-12 students at six schools:
The East Greenwich School District has long been recognized as a top performing school district in Rhode Island and in the nation. The budget is approximately $50 million per year. The District is currently in the process of a planned school construction and realignment process, which will continue over the next few years.
The East Greenwich School Committee is seeking qualified leaders to be the next superintendent to build upon its tradition of excellence and carry out the District’s mission statement of “All Means All.”
The Superintendent plays an essential role in providing educational leadership, creating a culture of student achievement and success for all, guiding the work of faculty, administrators and staff, managing finances and operations and working with all key stakeholders, from students and parents to town officials and the community at large, to drive excellence in public education.
The East Greenwich School Committee is looking for their next superintendent to have the following skillset needed to work with district leadership and community stakeholders to ensure the District is meeting the needs of its students, staff, and families:
Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the EGPS Strategic Plan, aligning all initiatives and resources with the strategic objectives.
Seek input from EGPS teachers, administrators and staff, creating mechanisms for employees to provide feedback on EGPS policies, practices, and initiatives.
Align financial priorities with educational objectives in both year-over-year operating budgets and long-term (3-5 year) forecasts.
Identify and recommend opportunities for key stakeholders, including educators, students, parents and community members, to be involved collaboratively in EGPS decision-making processes.
Provide active leadership across the EGPS community to prioritize the growth and fulfillment of student potential described in the “EGPS Vision of a Graduate.”
Identify and recommend policy needs to the School Committee, based on emerging educational trends, student needs, and regular input from key stakeholders.
An advanced degree in Educational Leadership or a related field is required, and a Rhode Island superintendent license or obtainment of such a license before the start date is necessary. The East Greenwich School Committee will offer a multi-year contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a generous benefits package.
